Abstract: Este artigo descreve a adaptação do adulto Português versão do general Nutrition Knowledge Questionnaire (GNKQ) para adolescentes, e sua validação. Os entrevistados foram 1.315 adolescentes, que completaram o questionário em duas fases. Uma subamostra de 73 adolescentes foi usada para medirconfiabilidade teste-reteste . A validade concorrente foi testada usando uma amostra de 32 estudantes dietéticos . Abstract: Nanotechnology applications are widespread. In the food sector, they are&#xD;
expected to bring several benefits, from farm to table, including modification of sensory&#xD;
properties, nutritional improvement, and “active” and “intelligent” packaging materials.&#xD;
As more products appear in the market, the need for accurate analytical procedures,&#xD;
risk-assessment studies and regulatory framework is being addressed. This review&#xD;
looks at recent advances in all those applications and challenges concerning the use of&#xD;
nanomaterials in food and nutrition.</summary>

    <summary type="text">Title: Perception of a Portuguese population regarding the acquisition and consumption of functional foods

Abstract: Foods are no longer only recognized for their role in providing essential nutrients for normal body activity and function.&#xD;
Since from the late 1980s, emphasis has been credited to their content in substances capable to promote health and wellbeing.&#xD;
Those functional foods (FF) can benefit body functions beyond nutritional effects, in a way that improves the state of health and wellbeing.&#xD;
To improve interventions, it is advantageous to understand the consumer's perception, namely at regional level, towards FF.&#xD;
Objectives: to assess consumers' attitudes regarding FF, as well as to characterise social, demographic and economic aspects associated with the&#xD;
consumption of FF, in a Portuguese population.&#xD;
Methods: A survey was carried out, among a portuguese population (N=120), in order to collect information on their socio-economic profile&#xD;
and on the constructs knowledge, motivation and attitude related to FF. The constructs were modelled as latent vaiables, divided in its factors, with the statistical assessment done by factorial analysis (FA).&#xD;
Results: The FA validated two different constructs, the attitudinal and the motivational. Those constructs were factorized as follows: one focused in foods, a second with the degree of knowledge in health beneficts&#xD;
and the third concerning the fortification and suplementation of food.&#xD;
Conclusions: These results can be used as a basis to improve communications efforts regarding consumption of FF as a means to improve health and wellbeing.</summary>

Abstract: A recessão económica que Portugal actualmente atravessa tem reflexos na redução dos orçamentos familiares. O presente estudo, tendo por base uma amostra populacional residente na Grande Lisboa, pretende avaliar da existência de uma relação entre indicadores sócioeconómicos e possíveis alterações nos padrões de aquisição e consumo de alimentos, por parte dessa população. Os dados obtidos, através da aplicação de questionários individuais, indicam existir uma influência da crise económica nos hábitos de aquisição e consumo alimentares, com variações quer por grupos socioeconómicos, quer por grupos de alimentos.</summary>
