Authors: Idais, Doaa M. M.
Abstract: This thesis presents the design and evaluation of a user interface for role-based access control for any resources that can be used in social networking applications, called Lava. Lava has been designed to give end-users the ability to set permissions on user’s resources based on pre-defined roles using easy and simple interfaces. Then to generate JSON files that contain the definitions of resources and role permissions schema that user sets on his resources. For that goal, a user-centered design approach was utilized to facilitate an optimal user experience and to emphasize the end-user.
The main goal of the Lava system is to make users aware of role-based access control and let them set permissions to their own resources through interactive user interfaces in online social networks. These interfaces also let the user be a participant while designing the prototype.
The result of the research is a high-fidelity user interface prototype which has all the functionalities that enable users to set the permissions for their resources. Then based on the user interaction with the interface, a JSON file will be generated. This JSON file will be used by another system (being developed by another team partner) called ETQAN which will generate an application programming interface (API) to be used in social networks.2022-01-01T00:00:00ZDeveloping Application Programming Interface (API) Generator for Role-Based Access Control System in Social NetworksKaraki, Ranin W. Authors: Karaki, Ranin W. Y.
Abstract: With the huge expansion of social networks, they become an important part of users’
daily life everywhere, where users have large amount of data stored in these networks.
these networks provide users with the tools and settings to control their privacy and
security. Even though these settings give the users control over how to manage access to
their data, they remain according to the specifications of the network providers rather
than the user himself/herself. Role-based Access Control (RBAC) is a method used
widely in managing user authorizations and restrictions in computer systems.
This thesis research presents a new system called Etqan. Etqan is an API generator, that
can create a fully RESTful API for any system with a granular full access control subsystem.
Etqan will allow the users to easily generate APIs to access their own data and
they can build the access control within these APIs. This research presents the design
and develop the Etqan system and also validates, assesses, and tests the performance of
the system.
As a result, the Etqan system enables the users to act as super admins over their own
data, where the actual network provider has no control over the users’ data, this will
improve user privacy and security as the users are the only person who can grant access to any other user to access the data.2022-01-01T00:00:00ZDeveloping a Novel Expert System to Assist High School Students in Selecting their Appropriate University program: A Case Study of Hebron UniversityAlnajjar, Aseel Abdullah Hussanhttp://hdl.handle.net/10884/15192023-11-09T11:12:11Z2022-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: Developing a Novel Expert System to Assist High School Students in Selecting their Appropriate University program: A Case Study of Hebron University
Authors: Alnajjar, Aseel Abdullah Hussan
Abstract: In the light of the rapid Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
development, it became a measure of the level of progress of an organization and shows
its ability to compete. There is no doubt that the applications of Artificial Intelligence
(AI) have contributed to a technological shift in various fields among which is the
expert system, which is defined simply as the system that replaces or assists a human
expert in a complex task that requires a specialized knowledge. The employment and
use of expert systems has recently spread in many areas, including: health, military,
administrative, in addition to the educational process. Whereas, high school students in
Palestine face a problem when choosing their university program because this process
is affected by many surrounding factors. Hence the fundamental purpose of the present
study is to propose and develop an expert software system to guide high school students
in choosing the appropriate university program at Hebron University as a case study.
Therefore, the current study addresses the answer to the following questions: what are
the factors affecting the students' choice of the appropriate university program from the
students’ point of view? In addition, what is the students' opinion towards developing
an expert system that helps high school students in choosing their appropriate university
program? Moreover, how to develop a novel expert system to help high school students
in choosing their university program? Where the expert system analyzes the student's
tendencies and abilities, and the requirements for admission and registration to suggest
university programs offered by Hebron University that are compatible with the student's
personality. In addition, the system provides the student with an analysis of the needs
of the Palestinian market from these university programs. This expert system was
developed based on one of the famous theories of psychology in the aspect ofin which the types of personality suggested by this theory are stored. In addition, the
system uses both rules and machine learning algorithms to analyze the student's
tendencies and abilities and display the best university programs that suit his/her
personality. The results showed that 85% of the students would like to use the expert
system and recommend it, while 15% thought that it is not beneficial and would rather
referring to traditional methods. Accordingly, the researcher recommends that the
system be adopted mainly for all students wishing to enrol in Hebron University since
it is based on scientific grounds besides abandoning random methods in the selection
of university major. In addition, the researcher recommends the adoption of the system
by the competent authorities in Palestine, and updating the system frequently.
Furthermore, the researcher also recommends the necessity of providing data on all
sectors related to the Palestinian market through the cooperation of the various
institutions that own these data.2022-01-01T00:00:00ZAn Electronic Health Records Interoperability Model Among Hebron Hospitals In PalestineNajjar, Arwa Ismail Ibrahimhttp://hdl.handle.net/10884/15112022-11-08T16:57:51Z2022-01-01T00:00:00ZTitle: An Electronic Health Records Interoperability Model Among Hebron Hospitals In Palestine
Authors: Najjar, Arwa Ismail Ibrahim
Abstract: Many healthcare systems are increasingly using Electronic Health Records (EHRs) to facilitate care while maintaining streamlining processes for both physicians and patients. Nevertheless, to share patients' information, a connection is required among clinics and hospitals; these institutions may use different healthcare information systems which makes electronic sharing of health information more difficult. Significant advancement and efficient models were proposed and implemented in many developed countries in Europe and the States. These models were based on international standards designed specifically for data exchange among health care institutions with probably different information systems. However, such models are not being adopted in Palestine. Therefore, this work aims to first investigate the current state of EMR adoption in Palestine, as well as the readiness of various hospitals to implement EHR interoperability, and then to develop a suitable EHR interoperability model that will enable the seamless exchange of EHRs between different healthcare institutions in Palestine.
The mixed-method approach was used to achieve the research goals. The qualitative findings based on interviews with IT specialists at Hebron District hospitals revealed that current EMR systems are of low level of capacity and clinical terminologies, and they do not use interoperability standards. The quantitative research based on a questionnaire that was collected from healthcare professionals working in Hebron District hospitals revealed that there is a lack of data exchange infrastructure, and reported that high cost is an obstacle for implementing interoperability at their institutions. Additionally, the analysis showed that physicians from all disciplines are optimistic about the prospects of electronically exchanging various health data since they see the benefits to society as a whole. Both quantitative and qualitative findings emphasized that there is no electronic exchange of EHRs among Hebron hospitals.
III
Based upon these findings, the author proposed a model named islEHR based on AI approaches and the HL7 FHIR interoperability standard for enabling data sharing in a standard format that humans and computers can use. The evaluation results indicated that islEHR can be used with a high level of accuracy and efficiency meaning that islEHR is a viable approach for sharing EHRs among Hospitals in Hebron and can be generalized for data sharing among hospitals in Palestine as well.2022-01-01T00:00:00Z
